*The Broken Sparrow is an online magazine that will showcase the literary efforts of its subscribers.  Initially this will be a quarterly magazine that will, depending upon contributions, evolve into a monthly production.

Eligible contributions will categorized as follows:

       Novels- excerpts from chapters, having a limit of 5 pages (exceptions will be considered, depending upon content); one submission eligible for publication per person per issue;

       Poetry- no more than two poems published per person per issue; page limits are flexible;

       Essays- no more than one per person published per issue; page limits will be flexible, depending upon content and quality; initially only one submission will be published per edition;

       Articles- the subject matter (perspective) will be liberal; essentially anything having to do with art of writing (all genres), such as getting published, designing websites, promotional ideas, trials and tribulations and so forth.

       Q & A- there will also be a section set aside for writers to pose questions and answers related to writing, publishing, promoting etcetera. This section can and hopefully will be very useful for all sorts of reasons, depending on how well the subscribers utilize it. Hopefully there will be a host of informative information regarding all manner of matters related to writing and promotion: search engines, website building, writing submissions and the like- the whole ball of wax! Use it! In addition to subscribers’ Q&A, there will be a stock list of same each edition for general consumption.

       There will, in addition, be an AD PAGE associated with this magazine. This page will be open to subscribers only, who wish to submit “plugs” about their work, their books, their websites and th  e like. Again, the amount of material accepted will depend upon the number of submissions, available space and time constrains of the managing editior, who also happens to be a working writer. However, no third party or direct selling submissions will be considered. Perhaps the most important aspect of this page will be that it will also showcase the FEATURED ARTIST. A nice spread for someone different every ti  me. br>

This magazine will, in effect, belong to the subscribers. The quality of each issue will directly reflect the quality of the submissions. The amount of content will also vary, depending upon the number of submissions; so everyone can look forward to being recognized eventually.

There will be no post-submission editing, so anyone seeking to be published will suffer the consequences for lackadaisical entries. At this time there will be no “rewards”- other than being recognized by one’s peers.

Those interested in submitted blurbs or “plugs” for their own work are encouraged to join and promote away. Photos, icons and text links to personal sites and/or publishers will be accepted, providing the content does not contain gratuitous foul language, sexual content and respects the civility and comportment of the English language. Depending upon site limitations individual subscribers will be publicized as thoroughly as possible. No material promoting racial, religious, philosophical bigotry of ANY sort will be considered. If the response warrants it, there will be an entire page set aside for subscribers’ “ads” that will be linked to the magazine home page. NO DIRECT OUTSIDE LINKS WILL BE ALLOWED. PROMOTIONS WILL BE RESTRICTED TO THE SUBSCRIBER'S OWN WORK, WEBSITE, OR RELATED STOREFRONT.

Comments regarding the work of others will be published in subsequent articles, provided they are “positive” and “constructive”. This is NOT a “my way or the highway publication; everyone’s work and point of view is equal, subject to the aforementioned requirements.

Subscriber’s ideas/suggestions for new material, general improvements and the like will, of course, be welcomed. It is, after all, YOUR magazine.

Becoming a subscriber is free and easy. Just complete the simple submission form, and you will be notified of your acceptance and provided with further details, such as publication dates and other relevant information.

NOTE: ALL material submitted will be entail a voluntary release of copyrighted material for publication in THIS magazine only. Any further use of submitted material will required the expressed consent of the submitting author. (Will be covered in the copyright notice at the bottom of the page.)

Once you join you will be redirected to a sample copy of The Broken Sparrow and/or its most recent publication for your perusal.

Warmest Regards,

Richard Kennedy
